Glock
Founded 1963 • Pistols
Glock was founded by Gaston Glock in Austria in 1963, originally making curtain rods, knives, and other polymer products. When the Austrian military put out a contract for a new service pistol in 1980, Glock — with no prior firearms experience — designed the G17 in under six months. It won the contract in 1982 and revolutionized handgun design with its polymer frame, striker-fired mechanism, and near-indestructible reliability. Glock pistols quickly became the standard sidearm for law enforcement agencies and militaries worldwide, and remain the benchmark for duty and concealed-carry pistols today.

Smith & Wesson is one of the oldest continuously operating firearms manufacturers in the United States, founded by Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson in 1852. The company pioneered the metallic cartridge revolver in the 1850s and has produced iconic handguns ever since — from the Model 10 (the most-produced handgun in history) to the Model 29 .44 Magnum made famous by Dirty Harry. S&W is the largest revolver manufacturer in the world and a major producer of semi-auto pistols, modern sporting rifles, and lever-action rifles.

Founded 1949 • Pistols • Revolvers • Rifles
Sturm, Ruger & Co. was founded by William B. Ruger and Alexander McCormick Sturm in 1949 in a small machine shop in Southport, Connecticut. Their first product — the Ruger Standard .22 semi-auto pistol — launched the company and is still in production today as the Mark IV. Ruger has since become one of the largest firearms manufacturers in the United States, known for rugged, reliable, and affordable rifles, revolvers, and pistols. The company remains publicly traded (NYSE: RGR) and manufactures entirely in the USA.
Ruger DetailsSpringfield Armory
Founded 1974 • Pistols • Rifles
Springfield Armory takes its name from the original U.S. federal arsenal established by George Washington in 1794, which produced American service rifles through two world wars before closing in 1968. The modern Springfield Armory, Inc. was founded in 1974 in Geneseo, Illinois, initially importing surplus M1A rifles. Today the company is one of America's most respected handgun and rifle manufacturers, with an Illinois-based headquarters just a few hours from Aurora.
Springfield Armory DetailsHeckler & Koch (H&K)
Founded 1949 • Pistols • Rifles
Heckler & Koch was founded in 1949 in Oberndorf, Germany, by three former Mauser engineers — Edmund Heckler, Theodor Koch, and Alex Seidel. The company's early rise came with the G3 battle rifle in the 1950s, adopted by the German military and dozens of other countries. H&K's MP5 submachine gun, introduced in 1966, became the dominant law-enforcement and special-operations SMG for the next half-century. H&K's reputation for over-engineered quality and innovative designs has made it the choice of elite military and police units worldwide.
Heckler & Koch (H&K) DetailsBeretta
Founded 1526 • Pistols • Shotguns • Rifles
Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta traces its origins to 1526, making it the oldest active firearms manufacturer in the world and one of the oldest continuously operating companies of any kind. Still family-owned after 15 generations of Berettas, the company produces handguns, shotguns, and rifles for military, law-enforcement, sporting, and civilian markets. The Beretta 92FS was adopted as the U.S. military's standard sidearm (as the M9) from 1985 until 2017, seeing service in every U.S. conflict of that era.
Beretta DetailsColt
Founded 1855 • Pistols • Revolvers • Rifles
Samuel Colt patented the first mass-produced revolver in 1836 and founded Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1855 in Hartford, Connecticut. Colt revolvers won the American West, and Colt's M1911 pistol served as the U.S. military's standard sidearm from 1911 to 1985. The company produced the M16 rifle for the U.S. military throughout the Vietnam era and continues to supply the M4 carbine to U.S. forces today. Colt was acquired by Czech firearms maker CZG in 2021 but continues to manufacture iconic American firearms in Hartford.
Colt DetailsKel-Tec
Founded 1991 • Pistols • Rifles • Shotguns
Kel-Tec CNC Industries was founded in 1991 by Swedish-American engineer George Kellgren in Cocoa, Florida. Kel-Tec made its name by pioneering new firearm categories — especially ultralight polymer concealed-carry pistols in the 1990s and bullpup rifles and shotguns in the 2000s. The company remains entirely American-made, employing over 300 people (many military veterans) at its Florida facility, and has built a loyal following among shooters who want designs that do things no one else is doing.
Kel-Tec DetailsWinchester
Founded 1866 • Rifles • Shotguns
The Winchester name dates to 1866, when Oliver Winchester reorganized the New Haven Arms Company as the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Winchester's lever-action rifles — the Model 1873 "Gun That Won the West," the Model 1894, and the Model 70 bolt-action — define the American sporting rifle tradition. The Winchester firearms business is now operated under the Browning Arms umbrella (owned by FN Herstal), while Winchester Ammunition is a separate Olin Corporation brand. Both continue to carry forward the Winchester legacy.
